Dennis de la Peña is an award-winning American journalist who currently works as an anchor and reporter for FOX 7 Austin. He joined the station in 1999. Dennis also joins 101X presenters Deb and Jason on Fridays on The Morning X to talk about the week’s big sports stories.
De la Peña started his career at UT at KTSB Radio and also interned at KXAN-TV. His first media job that actually came with a pay slip was at KAMR-TV in Amarillo, where he served as a weekend sports anchor in 1994, then as a sports director.
Additionally, Dennis was involved with the Children’s Miracles Network and Meals on Wheels in Amarillo. He helped build homes for people living in poverty and was honored with the “Maker of a Difference” award for community service in the Panhandle region.
In addition, he has remained active in Austin, where he speaks at schools and college career exhibitions, as well as hosting awards banquets and various sporting events around the city. In his spare time, de la Peña enjoys spending time with his wife and their two adorable children, DJ and Noelle.
