Ken Molestina biography
Ken Molestina is an American journalist who has currently worked as an anchor and reporter on CBS 11 News since 2014. Molestina previously served as a reporter for WUSA-TV in Washington, DC before joining CBS 11 News. Prior to that, he was an anchor and reporter for KVIA-TV in El Paso, where he specialized in reporting on crime and public safety.
Ken was awarded an Emmy for his work on exposing underground sewer tunnels in El Paso that were being used by undocumented immigrants and human smugglers to enter the United States. He received another Emmy nomination for his reporting on the Barrio Azteca gang, a dangerous transnational border gang that primarily operates on both sides of the US-Mexico border. Molestina also received a first-place award from the Texas Associated Press in the “Breaking News” category.
Ken considers the execution of a Texas death row inmate to be one of the most influential stories he has ever covered. He gave the last public interview the day before the execution and was present for the execution the following afternoon.
More recently, in Washington, D.C., he was one of the first live reporters outside the White House to cover the commemorations that erupted after the assassination of Osama Bin Laden in 2011. Ken also covered President Barack Obama’s re-election and inauguration in 2012. He oversaw his season’s coverage of the federal government shutdown of the Capitol in the fall of 2013.

Molestina he was born inside New York and grown up inside Miami. He graduated from University of Florida. He began his career as an intern at Miami’s WFOR-TV. Ken has also worked as a news anchor and reporter for radio and television stations based in Gainesville, Florida. Ken has also worked as a rescuer in the past. He worked as a volunteer firefighter for the West Valley Fire Department in El Paso County for nearly three years. Molestina is currently a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. Ken is fluent in English and Spanish.
Ken also co-produced “Terror on a Train,” a documentary about the 1993 Long Island Railroad suburban train massacre in Long Island, New York.
In his spare time, Molestina likes to make fun of golfers who play worse than he does (not many) and has recently developed a love/hate relationship with Bikram Yoga.
