Andrew Balbirnie is an expert Irish cricketer who has addressed his country in each of the game’s 3 organizations (Tests, ODIs and T20Is), as a top tier player. He was the top scorer of the 2018 Interprovincial Trophy (the top T20 cricket competition in Ireland) with 262 runs in just 6 matches. He was also the Leinster Lightning’s top scorer in the 2018 Inter-Provincial Championship (Ireland’s premier cricket competition) with 302 runs in just 4 matches.
In May 2018, he participated in Ireland’s first match in the global test project. In July 2021, he captained Ireland to their first ODI triumph against South Africa. He drove from the front in that match, scoring 102 runs on 117 balls to set a tough 291-run goal for South Africa. Ireland went on to dominate the game for 43 runs and was named the ‘Player of the Game’ for his performance.
