Mark Followill’s biography
Mark Followill is a Fox Sports play-by-play announcer covering basketball, football and American football. He joined the Fox Sports team in 2014 and has since been part of the Fox Sports football team as one Play-by-play announcer for Major League Soccer, United States men’s and women’s national team matches, Concacaf Gold Cup, UEFA Europa League, Copa América Centenario 2016, Bundesliga and FIFA U-20 and U-17 World Cups.
Followill graduated from Northwest High School in Justin, Texas. He then joined the North Texas University but left to pursue his broadcasting career.
Most recently, Mark was part of the world-class broadcast team covering the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. He has also served as a play-by-play announcer for the brand’s college football broadcasts since 2012.
In addition to his football work, Followill has been the voice of the Dallas Mavericks on television since 2005, calling games on FOX Sports Southwest and TXA 21. During that time, Followill has won many regional Emmys for On-Camera Talent/Sports Play-by- Play, and the Mavericks broadcast won several regional Emmys for Live Sporting Event.
Followill was the Mavericks’ radio play-by-play announcer on 103.3 ESPN Radio from 2001 to 2005. He previously worked for 570 KLIF as a studio presenter for Mavericks radio broadcasts, as well as a play-by-play announcer on select broadcasts for two years. He also provided step-by-step commentary for NBC’s coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics in men’s and women’s soccer.
Mark has worked as a play-by-play announcer for college basketball and volleyball broadcasts on The Longhorn Network, NFL and NCAA football broadcasts on Sports USA Radio Network, and NBA and WNBA games on ESPN Radio. He has also been a regular contributor to Dallas-based KTCK radio station, Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket.
