Joana Canals biography
Joana Canals is an AFAA-certified fitness instructor and host of Colorado’s Best on Channel 2 and Fox31. She is also the creator of Joana’s Fitness Fix and a Daybreak fitness expert. For the past 16 years, she’s called Colorado home.
Joana enrolled at the University of Utah after finishing elementary and high school. She has hosted Colorado’s Best for over six years. Canals enjoys featuring the best businesses and entrepreneurs Colorado has to offer on its show.
Joana previously worked as a reporter and anchor in Salt Lake City, San Diego, and at various Denver stations before joining Fox 31 News. Her language skills have taken her to areas such as Mexico and Colombia for reporting and commercial production assignments.
As an AFAA fitness professional, Joana launched the Fitness Friday franchise for Colorado’s Best on Colorado’s own Channel 2 and Everyday fit for Fox31’s Everyday Show. Weekly program resources include state-of-the-art workouts, local coaches, workout apparel and merchandise. Her passion for exercise led her to represent Honda in the “Active Woman” campaign.
Teaching group exercise sessions at local gyms is Joana’s favorite fitness profession. She teaches cycling, Pilates and strength training classes.
Canals was inspired to be the first woman to perform a live mammogram on Fox31 in Denver for Good Day Colorado after a family member was diagnosed with breast cancer. Joana decided to share her live results, good or bad, after losing her sister to the disease, in hopes of encouraging women around the world to eliminate the anxiety linked to preventive testing.
