Ginger Chan is an American journalist, currently working as a helicopter traffic reporter and reporter at KTLA 5 News in Los Angeles since 2008. She also reports for KIIS-FM and is a weekend news anchor for KFI-Am, both in Los Angeles. An Angelino native, Ginger graduated from the University of Southern California in broadcast journalism and political science.
Prior to joining KTLA, Ginger worked at KIIS-FM, reporting traffic and covering the news as a stand-in for Ellen K. Chan spent mornings and afternoons traveling the skies of Southern California flying a Cessna 172 covering traffic for shows at the KLAC-AM, working with Fred Roggin, TJ Simers, Petros Papadakis and Matt “Money” Smith.
In addition to his traffic duties, Chan anchored weekend news for the high-profile radio station, KFI-AM. Additionally, she has worked as a radio personality, “jockeying” for California stations in Redlands, Bakersfield and San Diego. Her broadcast experience involves working as a TV anchor and reporter in Orange County and Huntsville, Alabama, where she chased tornadoes and took her first helicopter ride with the sheriff’s department.
Between radio and television, you can easily find Chan on the radio every morning of the week. She is currently part of the “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest” team at KIIS-FM, the broadcaster where she started as an intern in college.
Chan joined the KTLA family in March 2018 as a traffic and news reporter for the Sky5 helicopter. In doing so, she helps passengers avoid collisions and construction projects every morning of the week from 4am to 10am.
