Anthony Johnson died in Los Angeles, 12 years after suffering a heart attack inside New York’s Laguardia Airport in 2009. On September 20, 2021, Johnson’s nephew confirmed his death. His cause of death remains undisclosed.

Although much is unknown about Johnson’s personal life, we do know that he was married to Lexis Jones Mason. The couple together have three children. The length of his marital status is not revealed.
When Johnson died on September 20, he took to Instagram to express his grief. She is the CEO of A&L Entertainment, according to her social media bio.

Johnson’s father, Eddie Smith, was a stuntman and the founder of the Association of Black Stuntmen when he was born in Compton, California. Johnson credited his father for helping him break into the film industry by having him work on set.
He also thanked comedian Robin Harris for helping him early in his comedy career and giving him a second chance despite his poor performance.
He had two siblings: Edward Smith, his brother, and Sheila Smith, his sister.
