Riley Green biography
Riley Green is an American country music singer/songwriter who received his first big break as a contestant on the fourth season of the CMT reality show Redneck Island. He also made his first career breakthrough with the single “There Was This Girl” in 2018. In September 2019, he received his album Different ‘Round Here.
Prior to starting recording, Riley was a Division 1 FCS quarterback at Jacksonville State University as of 2008. In 2018, Green signed to Big Machine Label Group.
A native of Alabama, Riley was interested in sports and music from an early age. He learned it from his grandfather, Bufford Green, who ran a music house while Riley was growing up. After joining Jacksonville State University, Riley began a career in showbiz.
In 2014, he signed up for the fourth season of Redneck Island, CMT’s country version of Survivor. This series raised his career profile by bringing him to a wider audience. Green then capitalized on his growing audience by releasing the Bury Me in Dixie EP in 2015 and the County Line EP in 2016.
In 2017, Riley released Outlaws Like Us, while the following year he released the EP In a Truck Right Now, which included the title track and hit “There Was This Girl”. Another EP, Get That Man a Beer, appeared in June 2019. He then had his debut album Different ‘Round Here in September. The record climbed to 11 on the Billboard Country charts and spawned the hit ballad “I Wish Grandpas Never Died”, which peaked at No. 12 Country Airplay.
In 2020, Riley released Valley Road, an EP containing acoustic versions of five of his hits, and closed the year with If It Wasn’t for Trucks, an EP of five previously unreleased songs, including the Randy Owen duet “Better Than Me. ”
