Howard Eskin is an American sports anchor for WTXF-TV Fox 29 based in Philadelphia, a sports radio personality for WIP-FM 94.1/WTEL AM 610, and the father of Brett Spike Eskin, vice president of programming for WFAN New York.
Not only did Eskin host the station’s initial sports talk show on 610 WIP in 1986, he was also the first show on the air when the station switched to 94.1FM in 2011. He probably has more than any other sportscaster in the country, having broadcast approximately 7,000 transmissions over WIP. In addition to co-hosting the station’s Eagles pre-game shows and serving as a side reporter for the Philadelphia Eagles’ radio broadcasts, Eskin also hosts the station’s top-rated Saturday morning talk show and regularly appears on the air during the week. The culmination of Eskin’s illustrious sports broadcasting career was in the air from the field during the Eagles’ historic 2018 Super Bowl victory.
Eskin, who has published more sports news than any other network in the Philadelphia market, has been dubbed by local media the “hardest-working sportscaster” on the market for his constant hustle at work. He has distinguished himself as a multimedia personality throughout his career, in addition to his dominant radio presence. In 1982, when he joined CBS 3 as a sportscaster, he first switched from radio to television (KYW-TV). Eskin, true to tradition, broke a big story in less than four months of his TV career. He was alleging that Eagles owner Leonard Tose planned to sell and later relocate the team. One of his KYW bosses even claims that the sportscaster is responsible for keeping the Eagles in Philadelphia. “Leonard Tose would have smuggled the Eagles out of town if Howard hadn’t intervened when he did,” says Frank Traynor.
In 1986, Eskin was part of the initial team of anchors for Fox29’s Ten O’Clock News (WTXF-TV). Furthermore, in 1992, he returned to KYW-TV. Additionally, in 1996, he moved to WCAU-TV, where he hosted Sports Final, the station’s Sunday night sports program. In 2012, he returned to FOX29 as a host and continues to do so throughout the football season. Eskin also contributed to NBC’s George Michael Sports Machine and co-hosted a nationally syndicated radio show called Let’s Talk Sports. He also authored a column for the Philadelphia Daily News and was interviewed for his thoughts on NBC’s Today Show and PBS’s MacNeil Lehrer Newshour.
Furthermore, he is a Philadelphia native and graduated from Northeast High School. He is honored on the school’s Wall of Fame. Eskin has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities such as Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the Terri Lynne Lykoff Child Care Foundation, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Eskin was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame in 2012. In 2014, he was inducted into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in Philadelphia.
