Emily Kaplan is an American journalist who currently works as an NHL reporter for ESPN. Kaplan joins ESPN’s “Sports Illustrated”, moving from football coverage to hockey coverage. She joined ESPN in 2017.
Kaplan attended Montclair Highschool from 2005 to 2009. She later attended Bellisario College of Communication at Pennsylvania State University from 2009 to 2013 and majored in journalism.
During her tenure at Pennsylvania State University, she worked for the Philadelphia Inquirer as a football reporter for Penna State from 2012 to 2013. She was also a stringer for the Associated Press from 2010 to 2013. In 2014, she joined the ranks of Sports Illustrated as staff writer, where she continued to cover college football and the National Football League.
At Sports Illustrated, she worked for sports journalist Peter King. In addition, she has made several trips for work such as a Superbowl and two boot camps. In 2017, she left Sports Illustrated and joined ESPN, moving from football coverage to hockey coverage. As of 2020, she is working as an NHL reporter for ESPN.
