Brett Goldstein biography
Brett Goldstein is an English actor, comedian and writer best known for writing and starring in the Apple TV+ sports comedy series Ted Lasso. The series premiered in 2020 and his role in the series won him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
After graduating from high school, he attended acting classes at the University of Warwick. Goldstein majored in Film and Feminism. He later moved briefly to Marbella, Spain, where he worked at a strip club his father bought during a “midlife crisis”. He ended up turning the experience into a stand-up comedy show called “Brett Goldstein Grew Up in a Strip Club,” which was presented at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Brett went on to appear in the Channel 4 comedy Drifters. Additionally, he appeared in the Channel 4 comedy drama Derek as Tom. He also wrote The Catherine Tate Live Show with Catherine Tate. Goldstein won the 2016 BIFA for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Brendan in the film Adult Life Skills.
Later, in 2018, he started the Film to Be Buried With podcast, exciting guests by talking about movies that were important in their lives. He was recently hired by TV producer Bill Lawrence as a writer for the 2020 Apple TV+ show Ted Lasso, starring Jason Sudeikis. Writing on the show led to him being cast as the character of football player Roy Kent.
He later won the Writers Guild of America Award for Television: Comedy Series at the 73rd Writers Guild of America Awards. He also received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2021 for his work on the show. More recently, he signed a multi-year general contract with Warner Bros.
