Kendrick Perkins is an African-American former professional basketball player who currently works as a sports analyst at ESPN. Furthermore, he also works at Fox Sports 1 as a sports commentator. Previously, he joined the NBA right out of high school. Kendrick played for several teams including Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Pelicans.
Kendrick went to a private Catholic school. In his sixth grade, a year later, he met LeBron James while playing for the Houston Hoops against Lebron’s Ohio Shooting Stars. During the AUU Circuit, he took third place, Chris Paul second and LeBron first.
Perkins officially earned his high school diploma in 2003 from Clifton J. Ozen High School, Beaumont, Texas. Therefore, in Clifton, he led the basketball team to four consecutive districts and won the state championship. After his graduation, he qualified for the McDonald’s All-American Game. He was ranked 3rd center in 2003 and 6th player in the country.
After his retirement, Kendrick ventured into the journalism industry. In addition, Perkins hosts several TV sports talk shows including SportsCenter, First Take, Gets Up and NBA Today.
