Tearsa Smith is an American journalist who currently works as a reporter and anchor at WATE in Knoxville since joining the station in June 2002. Prior to that, she co-anchored Good Morning Tennessee since 2002 alongside Doug Currin. Regarding her education, Smith attended Florida A&M University where she majored in Broadcast Journalism.
At WATE, she handles breaking and developing news as well as daily news for the eastern Tennessee demographics. In addition, she uses the internet, telestrator, raw and edited video, sound, satellite, UStream and news channels to tell breaking and evolving stories.
Smith daily tells stories without using a teleprompter, as the show is structured for a bit of improvisation. She is also responsible for reporting recorded segments for early evening news. Smith is responsible for anchoring the early evening news in the absence of a scheduled anchor.
