Biography of Gabriel Chavarria
Gabriel Chavarria is a renowned American actor, best known for his appearances as ‘Jacob Aguilar’ in East Los High and ‘Miguel Guerrero’ in The Purge. Furthermore, he was cast in the 2017 movie War for the Planet of the Apes.
Chavarria attended John Marshall High School in Los Angeles. He was very young when he started acting. However, he had never thought about acting because he was very fond of football. In fact, he spent most of his time honing his football skills. At age 13, Gabriel was selected for international tournaments and an Olympic Development Program.
He has been a reserve for a Honduran football team for some time. At some point, he even had the opportunity to play in international tournaments in Spain, England and the United States of America.
When Gabriel passed the audition for his debut project Freedom Writers, he developed some love for the studio. This was, in fact, the turning point in his life. In a short time, Chavarria landed several roles in TV shows and movies of various genres.

Later in 2011, he was cast as Ramon in the drama film ‘A Better Life’ based on Academy Award winning screenwriter Roger L. Simon. Then came his breakthrough through his appearance as Jacob Aguilar, a football star, in the 2013 ‘Hulu’ series ‘East Los High’.
Growing up his career, Gabriel was cast as ‘Daniel “Danny” Alvarez,’ a skilled but troubled graffiti artist, in the 2016 drama film ‘Lowriders’. His performance in the film won him an Imagen Award for Best Actor.
In 2017, Chavarria played ‘Preacher’ in the science fiction film War for the Plant of Apes. The following year, he played Miguel Guerrero, a US Marine in the horror anthology ‘The Purge’.
More recently, he was seen in the Netflix series based on the life of Mexican-American pop singer Selena Quintanilla, who was murdered by her manager. In the movie Selena: The Series, Gabriel plays AB Quintanilla, Selena’s brother, bassist and songwriter/producer.
