Vladimir Duthiers biography
Vladimir Duthiers is an American journalist who currently works as a correspondent for CBS News since 2014, after five years at CNN. He was a member of the CNN news team that won Emmy Awards for its coverage of the 2010 Haiti earthquake. In addition, he won a Peabody Award for his coverage of Nigeria’s Boko Haram abduction of female students.
Vladimir attended the University of Rhode Island, majoring in journalism before shifting his focus to political science. After his graduation in 1991, he began working on Wall Street in the financial services industry. He joined the asset management firm Alliance Bernstein in 1993, where he was promoted to Managing Director responsible for business development in Asia. However, he later returned part-time to study journalism at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
He joined CNN in 2009, first as an intern, then as a production assistant, working on Christiane Amanpour and Anderson Cooper 360’s Amanpour. During his mission in Nigeria, he reported on Boko Haram’s terrorist activities which, in addition to the kidnapping of the girls of Chibok, are responsible for the deaths of thousands of Nigerians since 2009.

While in the region, he covered the ongoing military intervention in Mali, the In Amenas terrorist attack and hostage crisis in Algeria, and the trial and conviction of former Liberian war chief Charles Taylor at the ICC in Sierra Leone. He also briefed Japan and South Korea on US military operations in the Wing-Pacific theater in the Middle East on the front lines of the Israeli-Palestinian crisis.
In August 2014, Duthiers joined CBS News as a news correspondent, based in New York. Her work has been featured on CBS This Morning, CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley, CBS News Sunday Morning, 48 Hours and all CBS News platforms. Furthermore, he is an anchor for CBSN, the news streaming channel of CBS News and CBS Interactive.
