Mark Ockerbloom Biography
Mark Ockerbloom is an Emmy-winning Boston 25 News journalist who co-hosts the Boston 25 News on 5, 6, 10, and 11 newscasts. He has been with the network since 2004 and is one of the most respected journalists in the Boston area.
He is a native of Winchester, Massachusetts. Growing up in a journalistic family, he was always intrigued by current events. He knows the kind of trust viewers place in presenters and the passion with which they follow local news. From sports to politics, Mark’s deep knowledge of the Boston area adds keen insight to many of the stories he covers.
Key stories he has covered over the years include the Boston Marathon bombings, the Aaron Hernandez trial, and the funeral of former President George HW Bush. In addition, he covered several of the Patriots’ Super Bowls and Red Sox World Series, as well as all of the victory parades that followed.

Before coming to WFXT, he anchored nightly sports broadcasts and co-hosted a nightly sports program on NECN. He also worked at KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City before returning to New England, where he was named Oklahoma’s Sportscaster of the Year. Furthermore, he started his career as a TV Sports Announcer at WMUR in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Throughout his career, he received several awards. He has received broadcasting awards from the Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists. In 2010, he received a Boston/New England Emmy for Outstanding News Anchor, and in 2017, he took home another Emmy for his coverage of the State Police overtime scandal. In 2019, he won a third Emmy for his coverage of the Merrimack Valley Explosions.
Ockerbloom is a graduate of BC High and Providence College and is an active supporter of JDRF, NAMI, Special Olympics Massachusetts and Medfield Public Schools. In addition, he volunteers at the Pan-Mass Challenge in honor of his older brother, who lost his battle with cancer in 2004. When not working, he enjoys playing hockey, softball, fishing and golf.
