Ann Curry biography
Ann Curry is an American journalist and photojournalist who has been a reporter for over 30 years, having hosted the Today Show on NBC from 1997 to 2012. She primarily focused on human suffering in war zones and natural disasters. , Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Afghanistan, Darfur and the Central African Republics.
Ann began her career as an intern at KTVL in Medford, Oregon, in 1978. There she became the station’s first female reporter. She returned to KGW in Portland in 1980, where she was a reporter and anchor.
In 1990, Ann joined NBC News as a Chicago reporter for NBC News, then as an anchor for NBC News’ Sunrise from 1991 to 1996. She was also Matt Lauer’s replacement news anchor on Today from 1994 to 1997. From 1997 to 2011, she worked as a news anchor at Today, being the second longest-running news anchor after Frank Blair.
Ann has published great foreign stories from places like Baghdad, Sri Lanka, Congo, Rwanda and Darfur. She was also the anchor of NBC’s primetime coverage and highlights of Live Earth shows on July 7, 2007. She has done special interviews with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former Vice President Al Gore.
