Guy Benson is a well-known American commentator, columnist and political expert. He is also a Fox News contributor, Townhall.com political editor and conservative radio host. Additionally, Benson served as a Fellow at the Georgetown Institute of Public Service and Policy during the Spring 2021 academic semester.
Benson attended high school and Ridgewood High School. During high school, Guy was known for broadcasting sports on local television. He later graduated Northwest University with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. While at the University, he worked for the campus radio station, WNUR, broadcasting sporting events and hosting a political talk show.

He later interned for two summers at Fox News, working primarily with Hannity & Colmes, before helping the channel cover the 2004 Republican National Convention. Benson also reported for an NPR station in South Florida, broadcast summer baseball in the Cape Cod Baseball League and was admitted to the White House.
After graduating with honors in 2007, he served as a producer on The Sandy Rios Show, then an afternoon local radio show with Christian right-wing commentator Sandy Rios on WYLL-AM in Chicago before Rios moved to Washington D.C. in July 2010 to perform Sandy Rios on the Morning on AFR TALK on American Family Radio.
Benson also hosted his own Sunday night radio show, The Guy Benson Show, on AM 560 WIND in Chicago and AM 1260 WWRC in Washington, D.C. from 2008 to 2015. In 2010, he became political editor for Townhall.com , where his columns published since February 2008.
Most notably, he contributes to Townhall’s sister site, Hot Air. He recently wrote on Andrew Breitbart’s “Big” websites and the National Review Online media blog. In May 2015, along with co-author Mary Katharine Ham, he published his first non-fiction book End of Discussion: How the Left’s Outrage Industry Shuts Down Debate, Manipulates Voters, and Makes America Less Free. The show chronicles the critique of political correctness in politics, media and culture from the point of view of two millennial conservatives.
In April 2008, he discovered a video of a 2007 meeting of the Weathermen, a radical leftist group from the 1960s and 1970s. Additionally, the footage included quotes from two members, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, defending their actions. As Barack Obama was criticized during the 2008 presidential campaign for associating with Ayers and Dohrn, the clips made national news, from the Boston Globe to Fox News.
As a result, Benson gained national attention during the 2008 presidential race on two other occasions. In August, after the Obama campaign attacked WGN radio in Chicago for allowing Stanley Kurtz to appear on its station, Guy—who was in the studio during the interview—detailed his experience. Then, two weeks before Election Day, Guy teamed up with Mary Katharine Ham and Ed Morrissey to write “The Comprehensive Argument Against Barack Obama,” released on Hot Air.
