He also served as a commentator for the CBC’s coverage of diving and swimming sports at the 2016 Summer Olympics, replacing Steve Armitage. Steve was unable to participate in the Games due to a diagnosis of persistent heart disease.
Likewise, he gained international recognition after making a mistake during his commentary in the men’s 200-meter individual medley final. He said that American swimmer Ryan Lochte was in the lead and had won the race when his opponent, Michael Phelps, defeated him on November 11, 2016.
