Leon Bibb is an American journalist who currently works as a news anchor and commentator for WKYC in Cleveland, Ohio since joining the station in 2018. Bibb has been a member of the BGSU Board of Trustees and was the first African-American news anchor on the prime time in Ohio.
Born in Butler, Alabama, Leon was raised in the Glenville neighborhood of Cleveland, where he attended Glenville High School. He graduated from the School of Journalism at Bowling Green State University. He also studied Radio-TV-Film in graduate school.
After graduating, he began his career at NBC television in 1979, where he worked for 16 years. He then moved to WEWS-TV5, the ABC station in Cleveland, where he worked for 22 years. In both seasons, he served as an anchor and reporter for all major newscasts.
Throughout his career, he has covered stories across Ohio regularly. He also covered many national stories like the Persian Gulf War. In 2011, he interviewed President Barack Obama in a one-on-one conversation. The conversation took place at the White House. Additionally, he interviewed President George HW Bush.
