Brian Balthazar biography
Brian Balthazar is a renowned American television host, comedian and executive producer. On camera, he is a regular guest on the Today Show and The Wendy Williams Show, where he appeared as a guest co-host. Additionally, Balthazar has appeared as a guest on The Talk, and also as a guest presenter on Page Six TV and Food Network.
Also, behind the scenes, Balthazar kicked off NBC’s fourth hour of today’s program with Hoda and Kathie Lee and was a co-executive producer on The View. Balthazar spent more than ten years as a network executive at HGTV, where he oversaw shows such as Love It or List It, House Hunters, Flip or Flop, Christina on the Coast and Flipping 101.
Currently, Brian is the president of Balthazar Entertainment where he creates and produces executive programs for cable TV and streaming platforms.

Brian struggled with his career in the early 1990s, holding several short-term jobs, including that of advertising assistant for a trance medium, singing and dancing waiter, and free customer service agent.
He took on an overnight writing job in 1999 at the Boston-based NBC affiliate. WHDH in Boston, Massachusetts, writing 20-second news. In 2000, Brian got a job at MSNBC as a producer, working at the network’s then headquarters in Secaucus, New Jersey. he became a senior producer in 2001.
After traveling the world covering post-9/11 news, in 2008, Balthazar left NBC to oversee various real estate and design shows for HGTV. While there, he oversaw and led the creative behind several series including Love it Or List It, Flip Or Flop, Christina On The Coast and more.
Stand up comedy
During his time as a producer, Balthazar joined a stand-up comedy class as a way of forcing himself to take the stage as a comedian. He eventually began performing in New York comedy clubs at night while working as a producer during the day.
While producing the Today Show, Brian met and worked with Stacy London, host of TLC’s What Not to Wear. During this time, she was developing a late-night talk show called elegantly late with Stacy London.
On her recommendation, Brian met with the show’s producers and became the show’s warm-up comedian, shooting several episodes while continuing as a producer at NBC. He became the warm-up comedian for the 2008 season finale of The Food Network’s Next Star and MTV man and wife with Fatman Scoop.

In the early days of Brian’s on-camera career, he sometimes appeared as an offbeat reporter on both NBC and MSNBC. He was a satirical street correspondent for the 2004 Democratic National Convention for Countdown 2004 with Keith Olbermann 2004. Additionally, in 2006 for the Today Show, Balthazar profiled Joan Rivers, taking her on a series of online dates. He made several other appearances, mostly in taped segments, during 2006 and 2007.
In 2009 Brian started a pop culture website called POP Goes The Week. As the site’s editor, he began appearing as a speaker on The Joy Behar Show and Showbiz Tonight. He regularly returns to MSNBC as a guest entertainment reporter and occasionally appears on The Wendy Williams Show in the ‘Scoop’ segment of the show. He was frequently featured on the weekend edition of the Today Show.
Furthermore, Brian appeared in The Dr. Oz Show as an undercover and street reporter and appears as a comic on TV Guide Network’s entertainment specials. In 2012, he hosted the HGTV television special I Bought A Famous House. He was named as one of the 50 most influential LGBT personalities in the media.
Furthermore, in January 2018, he received positive reviews as one of the co-hosts of HGTV’s Rose Parade coverage. While there, he worked as a street reporter giving an up-close view of the parade floats and personalities.
While working at HGTV, Balthazar embraced his knowledge of home improvement and his personal passion for design. He began tearing up and renovating houses, which were featured when he co-hosted the fourth hour of the Today Show.

Having worked for a few years in food retail and catering, Brian started sharing most of his cocktail and food recipes on social media and DrThirsty and Snackist websites.
