Alan Ritchson Biography
Alan Ritchson is an American actor, model, singer and songwriter who made his debut as Aquaman on the CW superhero series Smallville (2005-2010). He gained further acclaim for portraying Thad Castle in Blue Mountain State (2010-12). He even reprized that role in the sequel to the series in 2016.
Born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, he attended Niceville High School and graduated in 2001. From 1999 to 2003, he attended as a dual enrollment student and majored in Associate of Arts at Okaloosa Walton Community College, now Northwest Florida State College. . Ritchson was a member of the Fine Arts division’s Soundstations and Madrigal Singers.
He first came to public attention in 2004 when he appeared on American Idol as one of the top 87 contestants in the third season before being cut in Hollywood. In 2010, he began playing the lead role of Thad Castle, the captain of the college football team, on Spike TV’s Blue Mountain State. Sadly, the show was canceled in February 2012.
Outside of television, he played Raphael in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014). He reprized that role in its sequel in 2016. He also appeared in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013). Furthermore, he made his directorial debut in 2021 and co-starred in the action comedy Dark Web: Cicada 3301.
