Noma Dumezweni is a South African-British actress who rose to fame for portraying the role of Queen Selina in Disney’s live-action film called The Little Mermaid in 2023. She is also recognized for winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Performance for her supporting role in A play Raisin in Sun performed at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre. Noma even won Best Actress for her role in Hermine Granger. Her other famous TV roles are in Holby City (2006), Casualty (2012) and The Watcher (since 2022).
Dumezweni was born in Swaziland, South Africa but spent time growing up in different African countries like Kenya and Uganda. Eventually, Noma arrived as a refugee in England, UK with her sister and mother at the age of seventeen. The family lived in Felixstowe, Suffolk before finally settling in London. Noma was educated in Suffolk, but it is unclear whether she joined college for higher education or not.
