Catherine McDonald is a Canadian journalist who currently works as a veteran crime reporter for Global News Toronto. She worked as a reporter in Red Deer, Alberta and Victoria before moving to Toronto in November 2000, where she has worked for Global ever since.
Most notably, she began reporting exclusively on crime shortly after covering Karla Homolka’s release from prison in 2005. Talking about her education, she attended and graduated from McGill University and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. She has covered some of the biggest crime stories in the Greater Toronto Area over the years.
Spending a lot of time in court, some of the notable trials she will never forget include the trial of two Mississauga sisters convicted of first-degree murder after drowning their mother in a bathtub in 2002, among other cases. When she is off duty, she can be found at the gym or on the playground chasing her two daughters.
