
Jake Hamilton Biography
Jake Hamilton is an Emmy Award-winning American entertainment reporter, former film critic, and documentary producer currently working for Fox 32 in Chicago. He is a reporter for Good Day Chicago weekdays from 4:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on FOX 32, and a member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
A former teen film critic for the Houston Chronicle and Houston’s PBS talk show The After Party, he hosts the film review segment Jake’s Take, produced by KRV, a Fox affiliate in Houston.
Jake began his career as a print film critic at the age of 14. In 2002, he wrote for the Houston Chronicles while still attending Seabrook Intermediate School. In his writing, Hamilton was criticized for including R-rated films in his “10 Best Movies of the Year” list. After enrolling at Clear Lake High School, he continued writing for the Houston Chronicles until 2006, when he graduated.
In 2006, Jake was 18 when he was hired as a film critic for the late-night talk show The After Party, hosted by Emie Manouse. The show received positive reviews from critics and fans alike and was soon nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Entertainment/Variety Program in its first season. The show ran for over 50 episodes, ending on November 15, 2006.
After the end of After The Party, Ernie Manouse brought Jake on to help produce the HoustonPBS documentary The Last 24. When the documentary aired in August 2007, it was met with critical acclaim. The documentary earned Hamilton an Emmy nomination in September 2008.

Additionally, in 2008, he began hosting the film review segment Jake’s Takes on KHOU-TV (CBS Houston). In this capacity, Jake reviewed films covering international film festivals and interviewed celebrities such as Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, and Will Smith. This program was nominated for “Outstanding Achievement in Cinema” by the Houston Film Critic Society in 2008 for “bringing celebrities back to Houston.”
In 2009, Jake was nominated for a Lone Star Emmy Award for “Outstanding On-Air Talent” for hosting Jake’s Takes. Additionally, he returned to writing for the Houston Chronicle as one of Houston’s City Brights. Later in October 2009, Hamilton moved Jake’s Takes from the CBS affiliate (KHOU-TV) to KRIV (FOX affiliate).
In 2011, Jake received a Lone Star Emmy Award for “Outstanding On-Camera Talent” for hosting Jake’s Takes. Additionally, he won the Los Angeles Press Club’s National Entertainment Journalism Award in 2012 for hosting ‘Jake’s Takes’.
In November 2013, Jake joined WFLD-TV (FOX 32 Chicago) Good Day Chicago as a field reporter for the morning show.
