Brian Carlson Biography
Brian Carlson is an Emmy Award-winning American journalist, co-anchor, and reporter who currently anchors the news program Good Morning and Midday Utah, which airs on ABC4 in Utah. Carlson got his first on-air job while in high school, where he used to anchor a weekly show on a Salt Lake station and he enjoyed it. He followed his passion which led him to Brigham Young University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.
His first job was at KNDU in Kennewick, Washington, where he was the first reporter in 2004 to cover the story of Ron Stallworth, a young black detective who infiltrated the KKK. This report became the motivation for the Oscar-winning film “Infiltrated in the Klan” which was directed by Spikes Lee.
In 2012, he secretly purchased drugs and was instrumental in helping police capture an illegal drug dealer. This earned him a regional Emmy Award for his coverage, which was titled Spice in the City.
