Biography of Lai Kuan-lin
Lai Kuan-lin, also romanized, also known as Lai Guanlin, is a Taiwanese rapper, singer, and actor based in South Korea and China. He rose to fame for his appearance on the second season of Produce 101, where he finished seventh. Additionally, Lai is also known for being a former member of the South Korean boy band Wanna One and half of the unit Wooseok X Kuanlin.
He was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, and attended Lin-kou High School for his high school education. However, information about his higher education has not been revealed. In 2016, he was recruited by Cube Entertainment during the Cube Star World Audition in Taiwan. The following year, he participated in the second season of Produce 101, where he represented Cube Entertainment and finished in seventh place. After the competition, he joined the project group Wanna One under YMC Entertainment.
In late 2017, Kuan-lin appeared in labelmate Jeon So-yeon’s music video for her single “Jelly”. In addition, he has also worked as an ambassador for several companies such as MGTV International APP, Chinese Social Assistance Foundation, and Green Carpet Action. Likewise, he has also done some endorsements for various brands such as KM Pharmaceutical (XYLIS), Perfect Diary, VIVLAS Lipstick, and Wolong Nuts. In 2019, Lai was cast in a Chinese drama called A Little Thing Called First Love. In addition, he has also worked together with Yoo Seon-ho and Ha Neul as new models for the clothing brand TBJ.
Guanlin also participated in a new group project alongside Pentagon’s Wooseok, titled Wooseok x Kuanlin. He, along with his group, also released their first extended play, 9801 on March 11, with the title song “I’m A Star”. In 2020, he starred in the youth drama called Don’t Think About Interrupting My Studies, where he played the lead role alongside Li Landi. Prior to this, Guanlin also held his first fan meeting ‘Good Feeling’ on April 6 at the Olympic Hall in Seoul, followed by Bangkok, Singapore, Taipei, and lastly Hong Kong. In 2021, he terminated his contract with Cube Entertainment.
