Being a film, stage and television actress, she received Oscar nominations for her role as Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and May-Alice Culhane in Passion Fish.
Furthermore, she is well recognized for her role as President Laura Roslin on Battlestar Galactica and the President’s Wife on Independence Day. Furthermore, she is also known for starring in Donnie Darko as the mother of Donnie Darko. In 1981, she won the Obie Award for Best Actress for her role in the play Still Life.
