Biography of Mitch Jacob
Mitch Jacob is an American journalist who currently works as a news manager at ABC15 Arizona. Most notably, he started his career while attending high school in Rapid City, South Dakota. His passion for a good story began when he produced a 30-minute documentary about teenage drinking and driving.
During his more than 40 years as a journalist, he worked in several cities in front of newsrooms. His most recent being in Nashville, Washington, DC, and Columbus, OH. In addition, he spent time working in the Valley as a news director for another local station.
In his time as a news manager, he was involved in covering a number of major stories, including the DC inauguration riots and the Congressional softball game shooting, among others. Throughout his career, he has been honored with awards and nominations. While working at Phoenix, he directed the ongoing coverage of what was one of the worst wildfires in Arizona’s history – the Rodeo-Chediski Fire.
Even after more than 4 decades in the news business, he continues his intense effort to cover local news with balanced journalism that demands the truth. During his free time, he enjoys renovating the house, traveling and hanging out with his two rescue dogs Murphy and Macy.
