Emily Riemer is an award-winning American journalist who currently works for NewsCenter 5 as a co-anchor. Prior to joining her current station, she worked for WCVB-TV as a weekend morning announcer.
Riemer studied at Ithaca College and graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism in 2003. In 2005, she took time off from broadcasting and joined the UK’s University of Leed, where she graduated with a master’s degree in international communications in 2006.
On the other hand, his career as a broadcast journalist started when he was still a student in Ithaca. She was part of College NewsWatch 16, at the school in upstate New York. Emily was a summer intern at the WCVB’s medical news unit. She began working as a video journalist for Capital News, which she joined in December 2003. Emily also worked as the Saratoga regional bureau chief while on the channel.
On the channel, Emily also anchored the main station’s coverage and contributed to the weekly political show, ‘Capital Tonight’. After working there for about a year and nine months, she left the channel. Later, in April 2007, Emily joined WSYX/WTTE as a reporter, where she covered government and public policy for ABBC6/FOX28.
Most notably, she joined the WCVB of WTTE-TV duopolies in Columbus, Ohio, in March 2011. She worked there for just over two years and left in May 2013. However, in June 2015, the organization called back. She returned to the channel again as a co-anchor of NewsCenter 5 Eyeopener replacing Bianca De La Garza, who previously hosted the show.
When out of her duties, Emily gets involved in charity work. Currently, Emily is associated with several community groups and non-profit organizations such as the American Heart Association and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
