Monica Woods biography
Monica Woods is an American meteorologist who currently works at ABC’s Sacramento, California affiliate KXTV ABC10 News. Woods joined ABC 10 in April 2001 as a weekend weatherman and after four months switched to the morning shift. On May 31, 2011, Monica became KXTV’s chief meteorologist and moved to the evening news at 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, and 11:00 pm.
Monica is a proud graduate of the University of Florida and Mississippi State University. She graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Telecommunications in 1994 and later received a degree in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University in 1999.
Prior to joining ABC10 News, Woods worked with ABC10’s sister station WXIA-Tv in Atlanta, where he served as a morning and midday weather forecaster. Prior to that, Monica worked as a weekday weatherman at KTXL-TV and as a morning weather personality for KRXQ-FM in Sacramento.
Monica began her broadcast weather career at WKAG-TV in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where she served as a weekday weatherman. She is a member of the National Weather Association and has the NWA seal of approval. In addition, Woods is past president of the local chapter of the American Meteorology Society, which is comprised of current and former meteorological professionals in the field.

Woods serves on the board of Solar Cookers International, a non-profit organization that spreads solar cooking awareness and skills around the world. She also served as president of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento and served on the organization’s Board of Directors for three years.
In addition, Monica volunteered weekly at the Sacramento office of the National Weather Service, where she helped compile statistical data for new forecasting areas. When not anticipating, Woods enjoys running, swimming and spending time with his family.
