Chanel Rion is an American broadcaster, political cartoonist, and children’s book author. She is the White House Chief Correspondent for One America Network News (OAN), a far-right American cable channel.
Rion was born and raised in Houston, Texas in the United States of America. She attended Harvard Extension School, where she was a member of the right-wing student group, the Anscombe Society. At the Harvard Extension School, she met Courtland Sykes, who would become her fiancé.
In 2019, Chanel became the OAN’s weekend correspondent at the White House. She was named the OAN’s Chief White House Correspondent in January 2020 after Emerald Robinson left the OAN. In July 2020, media watchdog Media Matter reported that Chanel had appeared on a streaming show promoting the far-right conspiracy theory QAnon, where she claimed Q’s existence.
Additionally, on April 1, 2020, the White House Correspondents Association removed OAN and Rion from White House boardroom press conferences due to violation of the Association’s COVID-19 attendance policy. The policy allowed only 14 reporters daily in the briefing room and required all reporters to occupy a sea. Rion returned to the White House briefing room again, citing Grisham’s invitation.
