Kelly Ring is a veteran American journalist who currently works as a co-anchor on Fox 13 at 6pm and 10pm. Ring joined Fox 13 News in October 1985.
Kelly has always been full of curiosity about the world of journalism. As a child born and raised in Dardanelle, Arkansas, Kelly’s demands to know “why” caused her mother to jokingly comment that she would become a reporter someday. When she was 10, Ring wanted to be a writer. After encouragement from her teacher, Kelly’s love for writing grew.
She then joined the University of Missouri and majored in journalism. At the University, Kelly was actively involved with the television station on the university’s campus and the NBC affiliate of Columbia, Missouri while attending school. His first on-air appearance was with the university’s television station.
Kelly’s first professional television job was at WXII-TV in Winston Salem, North Carolina, where she was a general reporter. She later joined Fox 13 News directly from the station.
Ring has received three Emmy Awards and many other awards for his work. Furthermore, she has traveled abroad to cover the Saudi Arabia crisis, the Russian medical crisis and the Cuban political crisis. Kelly regularly speaks to civic groups and offers her time to various events throughout the Tamba Bay area.
