Villarreal after completing elementary and high school attended the University of Texas Pan American and graduated in 2001. After her graduation, she began her journalism career at KGNS-TV in Laredo, Texas, where she worked as an anchor and weekend sports reporter.
She is currently a correspondent for CBS News based in Los Angeles. Her time here has led her to cover a wide range of breaking news. These stories include; the school shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon and the Environmental Protection Agency’s contaminated water spill into the Colorado River in Durango.
