Larson has been hosting his own KXL main station show in Portland. He began his broadcast journalism career at KTIL in his hometown of Tillamook, Oregon at the age of sixteen. learned his craft under Mildred Davy and later became an announcer for KWAX, based in Eugene.
Larson attended Tillamook Highschool, where he earned his degree. While he was a student, he was on the school’s speech and debate team. He later joined the University of Oregon at Eugene but later dropped out to work in radio and television. He took classes at Gonzaga University while working in Spokane.
Larson served as news director for KATR in Eugene and later joined KBDF where he worked from 1978 to 1979. He later interned at KEZI television and KPNW radio and later became news director for KZEL in Eugene before move to KJRB in Spokane, where he was a reporter.
