Patrick Bigbie Biography
Patrick Bigbie is an Emmy-winning American meteorologist and currently works as a meteorologist for WDAM-TV. Also, his passion for the weather started the day he was born, as he says that as a child he watched more The Weather Channel than cartoons. For him, the mood came naturally.
After that, he took every opportunity he had grown up to become a meteorologist. At age 13, he became the youngest WSFA Weather Watcher in Montgomery, Alabama. This opportunity allowed him to become friends and learn from some of the meteorologists in the business. As time passed, he became an advanced observer of SkyWarm even before graduating from high school.
He is from Seale, Alabama and earned his Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from the University of South Alabama with a concentration in Broadcast in 2015. At the University, he was the Chief Meteorologist of the “AtomsCenter”, a student-run daily meteorologist for the school. In addition, he was a meteorologist for the school newspaper, TV and radio station and also an intern at WSFA in Montgomery, Alabama.
Following his professional trajectory, he gained notoriety during the tornado that hit Pine Bely in January 2017. When the station’s audio was knocked out by the storm, he took a piece of paper and a pen and wrote: “No Sound Tornado on Ground in Petal”, holding it in front of the camera in an effort to warn viewers of danger.
Over the course of his career, he has won multiple Best of the Pine Belt awards for “Best Local TV Personality. In his spare time, Patrick enjoys trains, photography, Auburn football, being outdoors and spending time with his wife Rachel.
