Warren began his career as a radio broadcaster at Creighton University’s University Radio in Omaha, NE, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. However, his broadcasting career had to wait several years after college as he lived in Europe for a year and worked in financial sales in San Francisco.
Warren returned to his broadcasting career as a reporter at KRNV in Reno, NV, and then at KMST in Monterey, CA. His first job as an anchor was as a morning anchor at KTUL in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and then he moved to Phoenix, Arizona to work as a reporter and anchor at KTVK.
