Biography of Heather Hegedus
Heather Hegedus is an Emmy-winning American journalist who has currently worked at FOX25 in Boston since January 2009. She presents the news from seasons 6, 10, and 11 pm on the Saturday and Sunday editions of the Boston 25 Morning News.
Since joining the station, she has covered and reported on some of Boston’s biggest news. She covered the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, the trial of organized crime boss Whitey Bulger, and the arrest and trial of Patriots player Aaron Hernandez.
She began her career at WIVT in Binghamton, New York, where she served as a weekday head anchor. While there, she anchored the 5pm, 6pm and 11pm newscasts. In addition, she has performed live guest segments, including live in-studio guest segments with Ross Park Zoo animals.
Heather also worked at NY1 News as a video journalist, where she filmed and reported on the five boroughs of New York City as well as Ground Zero on the first anniversary of 9/11. Furthermore, she worked at WFSB as an anchor and reporter.
Over the course of her career, she has received numerous awards, including the 2011 Investigative Reporter of the Year award. She has also received an Edward R. Murrow Award for being a part of breaking news coverage.
Heather is a graduate of Lynnfield High School and Georgetown University, where she majored in Political Science and Government. She also holds a master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University.
