Charles Hurt is an American journalist and political commentator who is currently an Opinion Editor for The Washington Times, a contributor to Fox News, a contributor to Breitbart News and an editor for the Drudge Report. Hurt’s views were considered to be of great republican bent.

Charles began his journalistic career in Chatham, Virginia. At the time, he was eight years old and the editor-in-chief of a local publication he ran with his brother and sister called The Gilmer News and Gossip. Despite his father’s warning that the writing field isn’t paying off, Hurt has nothing else he wanted to do.

The first job Charlie was paid for was at the Danville Register & Bee in the summer of 1993. He covered everything from summer storms to autumn tobacco auctions. Charlie worked at the newspaper until 2001, when he moved to Washington, D.C. to join the staff of The Charlotte Observer. Additionally, Hurt was the New York Post’s DC bureau chief and news columnist covering the White House for five years.

Between 2003 and 2007, Hurt covered the US Congress as a reporter for The Washington Times before leaving to join The New York Post. In 2011, Charlie joined The Washington Times as a political columnist and was named opinion editor in December 2016.
