Felicia Middlebrooks is an American journalist who was a news anchor for WBBM Newsradio in Chicago, Illinois. She docked with Pat Cassidy. Their morning show was ranked number 1 in the morning in Chicago. She announced that she was leaving WBBM on May 29, 2020 to work at her own company, Shaltshaker Productions.
She attended and graduated from West Side High School. Later, she attended Purdue University Calumet. There she graduated in Mass Communication in 1982 and MBA in 2014. She also takes on the role of a professor of broadcast news.
Middlebrooks worked as a metallurgist in northwest Indiana to fund her graduation. Its previous radio stations were WBAA, WJOB, WGVE and WLTH. That was before she came to Chicago. She broke barriers in 1984 when she became the first woman and the first African American in the country to anchor CBS Radio morning.
Her credible work has led to her winning multiple awards for leadership and reporting. She is the principal of Saltshaker Productions LLC, with offices in Chicago and Los Angeles. Felicia’s first documentary, “Somebody’s Child: The Redemption of Rwanda” won first place for “Best Documentary Short”. This was during the 2005 New York International Film and Video Festival. She is also a published author.
Furthermore, she founded the non-profit organization “Hollywood Comes to Chicago” to help young aspiring screenwriters in the Midwest. She also serves on the Board of Directors of three non-profit organizations.
