Janet Hall biography
Janet Hall is an American journalist who works as an anchor for the WBRC FOX6 News in Birmingham. She joined the station in 1980 as a weekend anchor. This marked the beginning of a long history with the station. She is now a co-anchor of the WBRC FOX6 News at noon, 5pm, 5:30pm and 6pm.
Having started his career as a reporter at WKRG in Mobile, Hall graduated from the University of Alabama. Hall graduated from the University with a BA in Broadcast Communication and Speech Rhetoric. She was born and raised in Birmingham and is delighted to be returning home as a journalist.
Over the years, she has received numerous awards and nominations. She received the 2016 Silver Circle from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. In 2011, she received the 2011 Accolade Award for the documentary “April’s Fury”. Janet was named Best Anchor in Alabama in 2001 and 1994. The University of Alabama honored her with the 2004 Besty Plank Distinguished Achievement Award.
Most notably, Janet has served the community on various boards. She is a long-time volunteer and supporter of the Komen Foundation’s Race for the Cure. Furthermore, she is an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church. On top of all that, she is also a songwriter playing music throughout the Birmingham area. Her song “Alabama Breeze” is featured on a CD produced by the Alabama Department of Tourism.
