Doug Meehan is an American journalist who currently works as a co-anchor and on the WCVB’s EyeOpener weekday news. Prior to this role, he co-anchored the station’s EyeOpener newscast. Meehan arrives at WCVB in December 2015 from KPNX-TV in Phoenix, AZ, where he served for three years as a news anchor.
Prior to that, he hosted “The Daug Meehan Show” on WTKK 96.9 FM. He was also a contributor to The Wall Street Journal Radio Network in New York. Furthermore, he worked for six and a half years as a reporter and anchor for WFCT-TV in Boston. While here, he was the industry’s first full-time helicopter reporter covering traffic as well as breaking news.
Prior to that, he worked at WHDH-TV as a reporter and anchor. He also worked as an anchor and host of “Good Day Texas” on WFAA-TV for six years before joining WHDH-TV. Returning to where his entire journey began, Meehan began his career as an anchor and reporter at the Cape 11 News in South Yarmouth.
Throughout his career, Meehan has received numerous nominations and awards. He was honored in 2006 by Boston Magazine as one of “The Fabulous 40” of Boston. Meehan grew up in West Yarmouth, where he attended Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School. He later graduated from Westfield State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
