Kevin Blackistone is an American journalist who currently serves as a frequent speaker on ESPN’s Around the Horn and is a professor at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland. On radio, Kevin appears as a frequent guest co-host on Sports Reporters on DC’s ESPN980. He has 301 wins in Around the Horn as of 2019.
Blackistone attended and graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel College. He also attended and graduated from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in 1981. After his education, he began his career in journalism as a city reporter for The Boston Globe newspaper.
In 1983, he wrote for The Chicago Reporter. The Chicago Reporter was a monthly investigative magazine on Chicago’s racial and social issues. He later joined The Dallas Morning News in 1986 as a reporter in the City section. However, he later moved to the business section, covering economics, and the metropolitan section.

Most recently, he served as a contributing writer for Politico.com. He served as a columnist for the sports website FanHouse from October 2007 to March 2011. However, he left the website when it was purchased by Sporting News. He is currently an independent columnist and has contributed to The Daily, iPad-only newspaper.
Kevin accepted the position of President Shirley Povich of the Philip Merrill College of Journalists at the University of Maryland, where he now teaches sports journalism. In addition, he provides analytics for PBS NewsHour from time to time. He also joined The Washington Post as a sports columnist in 2020.
