Matt Chandler Biography
Matt Chandler is an American pastor and author who is currently the lead teaching pastor at Village Church, a Southern Baptist church in Flower Mound, Texas, and president of the Acts 29 Network. He released his first book in 2012, a book called The Explicit Gospel, which explains what the gospel is and how it has been misunderstood.
Born in Seattle, Washington, he has lived in many places across the country, but one of the places he has memories of is Texas. In Texas, he was a member of the school’s football team. He often refers to the fact that Jeff Faircloth, a football teammate, was quick to share the good news of Jesus with him. For two years, he attended church meetings, opposed beliefs, raised questions and doubts against Christianity, and eventually submitted his life to the lordship of Christ.
After high school, he got his first job as a janitor at Pine Drive Christian School in Dickson, Texas. He was later offered a job as a youth minister at a small Baptist church in La Marque, Texas. After some time, he moved to Abilene, where he attended Hardin-Simmons University. There, he began leading the weekly Grace Bible Study at the Paramount Theater.
After several years, he was named president of Acts 29 Network in March 2012, with which he succeeded Mark Driscoll. He is currently the lead teaching pastor at Village Church, a Southern Baptist church in Flower Mound, Texas.
