Chris Cristi biography
Chris Cristi is an American journalist who currently works as a night reporter on the AIR7 HD helicopter for ABC 7 Eyewitness News since joining the station in 2014. Since then, Chris has enjoyed a bird’s eye view of Southern California as he reports on the latest news.
Born and raised in Florida, Cristi attended the University of Central Florida, where she majored in Broadcast Journalism and Liberal Studies in 2013. While still in college, Chris served as a news assistant at WPLG in Miami, Assignment Bureau Editor for WFTV news in Orlando, Florida and monorail pilot for Walt Disney Work.
From 2001 to 2003, Chris worked at NASA as a co-op on the Kennedy Space Center press site. During her work during the tragic Space Shuttle Columbia disaster in 2003, Cristi launched her career as a helicopter reporter at FOX Orlando affiliate WOFL.

Additionally, Chris served as an aerial and traffic reporter at Metro Networks Orlando. In 2004, he joined WTVJ, NBC’s Miami affiliate as a newsroom editor and also worked for Westwood One in Miami as a news reporter and assistant director of operations. After spending a year at the networks, Chris moved to CBS News to work as a helicopter photojournalist, a special assignment. In 2005, when Hurricane Rita ravaged the Texas coast, Cristi flew on a special mission for CBS News and chronicled the catastrophe as an aerial photojournalist.
In 2005, Cristi got a new job as a Fox 5 WNYW-TV helicopter reporter in New York. At the station, he recounted historic moments such as the MTA subway strike in 2005 and US Airways Flight 1549 “Miracle on the Hudson”. After spending 5 years on Fox 5, he moved to KCBS-TV in Los Angeles as a freelance helicopter reporter. At the same time, Chris worked for NBC 4 News as the station’s breaking news reporter.
Cristi had his last stint before ABC 7 News as SkyFox News and weather reporter in Los Angeles, California between September 2016 and August 2018. In 2016, Chris received the Radio and Television News Association’s Golden Mike Award for his coverage of live over the Cajon Experiencing a bush fire that consumed an entire stretch of highway traffic.
