Tonya Francisco is an American journalist who currently serves as the host of WGN’s Saturday and Sunday Morning News. Prior to that, Tonya worked as a general reporter and anchor for WGN-TV.
Tonya is a Chicago native and a proud alumnus of Whitney Young Magnet High School. She is also a graduate of University of Illinois in Chicago with a BA in Journalism.
Francisco began his journalism career as a desk assistant at Chicago-based WLS-TV/Channel 7. Francisco also served as a reporter and associate producer at WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After years, she worked at WJRT-TV in Flint, Michigan, starting from a general assignment reporter position to becoming a weekend anchor.
Tonya joined CLTV in December 2002 and was soon named the morning anchor. In 2012, she joined the WGN-TV News team. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists.
