Eric Sorensen is a Canadian journalist who has currently served as Senior Correspondent for National Affairs at Global National since 2014. He spent 8 years as Head of Global National’s Washington Office covering the most significant stories in the United States.
Prior to joining Global, he spent 18 years at CBS covering breaking news from Princess Diana’s death in Paris to the Swissair accident in Nova Scotia. Eric started his career immediately after graduating. For starters, he worked at CHOW Radio in Welland. He then worked at Wingham and Peterborough. He also worked as a reporter for CTV Toronto and an anchor for CFPL TV in London.
Talking about his education, he attended and graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University in 1976. In the same year, he was named MVP of the varsity basketball team. Furthermore, he was the first Canadian to receive the Benton Scholarship in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Chicago in 1984.
