Biography of Gaten Matarazzo
Gaten Matarazzo is an American actor who rose to fame after portraying Dustin Henderson in Stranger Things (2016-present). He is also famous for hosting the Netflix show Prank Encounters (2019-2021).
Born in New London, Connecticut, Gaten was raised in Little Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. He began his career on the Broadway stage as Benjamin in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (2011-12). While pursuing vocal training at the Starlight Performing Arts Center in 2011, he competed in the Strarpower Talent Competition Nationals and won third place with his vocal solo titled “Ben”.
Gaten made his acting debut in a 2015 episode of The Blacklist. Over the next few years, he appeared in music videos and various reality shows. On May 11, 2018, he was cast in Hump. In May 2022, he returned to Broadway, joining the final cast of the musical Dear Evan Hansen as Jared Kleinman.
He then starred in Honor Society which was released on July 29, 2022. He also voiced the dragon in the My Father’s Dragon series of novels. Later in December 2022, it was announced that he would return to Broadway as Toby in Sweeny Todd.
In addition to his acting career, he uses his platform to promote CCD and raise funds for CCD Smiles. In addition, he participated in an hour-long charity broadcast across the US on The Tonight Show’s Twitch account, with proceeds going to Feeding America.
