Biography of Malachi Kirby
Malachi Kirby is a British actor and writer who rose to prominence through his appearance in Roots and the Black Mirror episode “Men Against Fire”. He also won a BAFTS for his performance in Small Axe: Mangrove (2020).
Raised on Patmore Estate in Battersea, he attended Southfields Academy. He was originally into literature, he discovered acting in the ninth grade through a course at the Battersea Art Centre. Kirby was then admitted to the Identify School of Acting in 2007.
After his studies, he started his theater career. At the time, he was nominated for Outstanding Newcomer at the 2011 Evening Standard Theater Awards. To be specific, this was after appearing in a Mogadishu production. In addition, he has appeared in a number of television shows and films, including a stint on EastEnders, among others.
He landed the role of Darcus Howe in the anthology Small Ax which premiered in 2020 and won the 2021 British Academy Television Award for Best Supporting Actor. In September 2021, it was announced that he would star opposite Delroy Lindo as Mr. Nancy, Charlie and Spider, in Anansi Boys.
