Biography of Ego Nwodim
Egobunma Kelechi Nwodim is a Nigerian-American actress, comedian, writer, and singer. Kelechi joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in its 44th season in 2018 as a featured player. She is also known for her role in films such as It’s A Party (2018) and Law & Order True Crime (2017). Prior to that, Egobunma is the seventh African-American female cast member in the show’s history.
Kelechi was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. She is a graduate of Eastern Technical High School in Essex, Maryland in Baltimore County. Ego holds a degree in biology from the University of Southern California. From there, she decided to pursue a career in comedy. She began taking classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (UCB) in Los Angeles. Nwodim joined Saturday Night Live while still a regular cast member at UCB, where she also hosted her one-woman show Great Black Women and Then There’s Me.
Ego has been featured in supporting roles on television shows including Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders, 2 Broke Girls and Living Biblically.
